Cloud Backup and Migration

Cloud Backup and Migration for Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace

Microsoft and Google keep their services running. They do not promise to get back the file someone deleted last month, or the mailbox a leaver emptied on the way out. We keep an independent daily copy of your data so you can.

What's Included

Backup for the Data Your Business Runs On

Cloud backup is included in every managed IT agreement. It covers the data people forget is at risk until they need it back.

Microsoft 365 Backup

Email, calendars, contacts, OneDrive, SharePoint libraries and Teams chat, copied every day.

Google Workspace Backup

Gmail, Calendar, Contacts, Drive and Shared Drives, with the same daily schedule and the same restore options.

Dropbox Business Backup

Your team's Dropbox files, backed up independently of Dropbox's own version history.

Point-in-Time Restore

Restore a single email, a folder or a whole account to how it looked on a chosen day.

Stored Separately

Backups are held apart from your live environment, so an attacker or a mistake in your account cannot reach them.

Planned Migrations

Moving to Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace, or between them, scoped as a project with a fixed quote.

Shared Responsibility

Why Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace Need a Backup

Cloud platforms work on a shared responsibility model. Microsoft and Google are responsible for keeping the service available. Protecting and recovering your data is your responsibility.

Their built-in recycle bins and retention settings help with recent mistakes, but they have limits. Deleted items expire, a compromised account can wipe its own mailbox, and ransomware can sync encrypted files straight into the cloud. An independent backup is the copy that survives all of those.

Microsoft and Google look after
  • Keeping the service online
  • Securing their data centres
  • Short-term recycle bins

Left to you

  • A staff member deletes a folder and nobody notices for weeks
  • A leaver empties their mailbox before they go
  • A compromised account deletes or encrypts files
  • A sync tool overwrites good files with bad ones

Migrations

Cloud and Email Migrations, Quoted Up Front

Moving email and files from an old server, another provider or between Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace is project work. We scope it, agree a fixed quote and plan the cutover around your business so staff arrive to working email.

Once you are moved, the new platform is managed and backed up as part of your agreement.

A migration covers

  • Mailboxes, calendars and contacts
  • Files and shared folders
  • Domain and DNS changes
  • Device and app setup for staff
  • Support for the first days after cutover

Cloud Backup FAQ

Questions About Cloud Backup and Migration

What is backed up, where it lives and how migrations are handled.

Microsoft keeps the service running and offers recycle bins and retention settings, but it does not provide a restorable backup you control. If data is deleted, encrypted or lost past those limits, it is gone. Google Workspace works the same way.
Yes. Daily backup of your cloud platform is included in every managed IT agreement.
You can restore to a chosen point in time, from a single email or file up to a whole account. Retention is agreed with you during onboarding.
It depends on the number of mailboxes, how much data there is and where it is coming from. Every migration is scoped and given a fixed quote before we start. Contact us for a quote.
Both work well for small businesses. We support either and can help you decide based on the apps you use and how your team works. See our Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace support.
